Speaker Pelosi also ripped up the president's speech.

Democrat congresswomen wore white during President Trump's State of the Union speech in protest for what they describe as an administration that pushes "immoral" and "misogynistic" policies.

There are more females in congress than ever before, including 81 Democrats and 91 Republicans. The white outfits represent the suffragette movement, a show of unity in fighting for women's rights.

The women held a press conference before the president's address, saying that Trump's efforts to attack abortion rights and equal pay for women are "immoral". Florida Representative Lois Frankel told Fox News on Tuesday "The reason that you're going to see the women wearing white is because we know there are a lot of anxious people out there who could be watching this, especially women, and we want them to know that there are people fighting back, and they will see it very clearly from us."

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez skipped the State of the Union altogether, tweeting the following:

The president's speech was full of victory laps, with only slight references to impeachment without directly mentioning it or delving into the issue.

At one point during the address, the group of white-wearing congresswomen erupted into shouting and screaming at the president, causing a large scene. The president carried on through the interruption, a moment almost unprecedented in conduct during the State of the Union.
